bad bloggers and eye candy

Shame on us. We have been terrible bloggers lately. Wanna know why? We've been slaving away in our classrooms. I mean, we totally should have just moved into school as of late. Ready for the good news? Jamie Lee is D-O-N-E with her room. Here is a treat for the eyes. (Sidenote-remember Jamie Lee has a jungle theme in her classroom.)

Holy Vistaprint!

Holler. Hey Oh. That's what I'm talking about. Yeehaw. and Sweet. Now that I've gotten that out of my system, let's discuss the world of Vistaprint. It all began one night when I was doing my nightly blog stalking. There was a lovely teacher talking about how much she got from Vistaprint for FREE. I thought I'd go check it out. I loaded up my cart with 543 20 or so things thinking they would be free. I mean, that teacher got all her stuff free, why shouldn't I? I proceed to checkout. Not free. What? How? Why me? I go about my business as usual. I'm a little bummed, I won't lie but I kept calm and carried on. The next day, I was blog stalking again. Another lovely teacher is talking about her Vistaprint loot. What is different this time? She mentions a forum on ProTeacher called Vistaprint Addicts. I have an account. I check it out. Holy Moly. There are some amazing deals posted on there. I go back to Vistaprint. I load my cart with 543 20 or so things. Proceed to checkout. ALL FREE.

Here are some schedule tags that Jamie Lee made for us to post on our whiteboard to keep track of what we were doing each day. We also wrote the objective beside each tag so that any visitors (admin, parents...) would know exactly what we were doing that day. Enjoy!

Who Stole the Cookies?

All I can think about are chocolate and cookies.  I thought eventually this feeling would pass but it's not.  So with cookies on my mind it made me think of the beginning of the school year which stresses me out and in turn makes me want more cookies.  So now that we all have cookies on our mind, in the beginning of the year we do a daily writing activity using the chant "Who Stole the Cookies from the Cookie Jar?"  I've created this smartboard file (A freebie! Yippee!) to use for it.  We use this activity to get to know all the students in the classroom through interviewing, we learn about the letters in our names, graph how many letters, and then each student draws a picture of the student of the day, writes their name, and tries to write something about the student.  We make a class book of each student's picture of themselves.  The students LOVE the cookie jar portion of our day.  Download the Cookie Jar file here from our TPT store.  Please feel obligated to leave us some love or something that makes us feel totally cool.  Oh and go eat some cookies.  You deserve them.

By the way this is Jamie Lee. I do not have near the amount of patience Miss Rachele has with blogging nor the diligence of figuring out how to do something.  That is why you're not getting previews of a Smartboard file.  If any of you very smart bloggers want to tell me how to get a picture of the file in the post then it can be your good deed for the day.  And a good deed is never forgotten. Just saying.

welcome to school young kindergartner!

My little one loves checking the mail. Even better are the days when there is something in that boring black mailbox for HIM! There is something magical about opening an envelope with your name on it. Except for when it is a bill and then there is a whole new wonder in that!

When I get my kinder roster,I send this welcome letter out to my smarties so they can learn a little about their teacher. It breaks the ice a bit.

The font did not transfer. I used Scrap Sister because not only do I obsess about other teacher's blogs, I am a fontaholic too! Should there be some sort of program out there for these things? Ha!

Have you seen the adorable jungle themed nametags that Katie over at Little Kinder Warriors created? ADORABLE and FREE! Well, while Jamie Lee has been able to put these to great use for her jungle themed classroom, I (Rachele), on the other hand, needed something movie themed. What is a girl to do? Create her own that's what! So, if you are like me and have a movie themed classroom, you can use them too!

Jungle Love.

Yall! There are so many amazing things out there. I swear my hiney has gotten flatter and wider this summer because all I do is sit on the internet stalking blogs which leads to font searching then to book buying and do I even begin to mention how much time I could spend on Pinterest. Lord help us all. Then after all the downloading and sharing how much you loooove the freebie you just downloaded, you can't even remember where it came from. So with all that said...somebody absolutely amazing created some jungle themed table labels. I loved them but as most teachers are, I'm OCD and wanted the color scheme to go more with my classroom so I recreated. Thank you thank you thank you whoever that wonderful blogger was. So check these out if you would like pretty much the same thing with a few different colors! I'm thinking of using these on the supply buckets or just contact papered (that is a verb you know) to each table.
